Nowadays, a cell phone is like a diary. It is the most private thing a person has and is probably why they are protected by so many passwords.

So, naturally, when a woman found out that a stranger was browsing her private photo, she was furious.

The 28-year-old woman named Loise Johnson caught a cellphone repair shop worker violating her privacy and scrolling through hundreds of her very personal photos.

After dropping her handset on the floor last week, she had her iPhone 11 repaired. Needing to replace her screen and battery, she agreed to pay £ 85 for the phone to be repaired at The Mobile Doctor in Worcester on Saturday. .

But when she picked it up, she caught a male worker going through all the intimate selfies of her in her underwear and bikinis she had taken for her boyfriend.

Louise said she grabbed the phone, but claims the man picked it up, scratching his hand in the process. She called the police who were present and confirmed that CCTV showed the man looking at the footage for 15 minutes. However, there was nothing they could do about it due to a technicality in the law as the man had not uploaded or shared the images.

The worker involved has since been fired from the mobile store. The manager also apologized to her and promised that the same incident would never happen again.

Louise explained, “As soon as I walked in I saw him lock my phone and put it to the side, but I saw my wallpaper so I knew it was mine.” I asked if my phone was ready, and he told me it would take another hour because someone had to come and finish fixing the frame.

“But I knew it was on my phone, so I asked him to retrieve it, swiped to see my most recent tabs and saw that he was going through all of my photos from years ago. years.

“I could see he was looking at them. I felt disgusted and I was in total shock, I couldn’t believe what was going on. I tore the phone off the counter but he grabbed my arm and m. ‘clawed very hard. I felt completely violated. It’s scary and perverse to go through someone else’s most private photos without their permission. “

It was really, really scary.

Albertans are very fond of texting each other emojis, according to The Mobile Shop.

The retailer, which sells phones and cell phone plans at grocery stores offering President’s Choice products, recently conducted a study on texting habits in Canada. In an email to MobileSirop, The Mobile Shop details some “key findings” from this study.

On the one hand, Canadians’ favorite emojis include the laughing face 😂 (used by 63 percent of the population), the crying face 😢 (used by 42 percent of the population) and the kissing face 😗 (used by 39 percent of the population).

Fewer Canadians like to use the “most outrageous emojis,” according to The Mobile Shop. These include peach 🍑 and eggplant 🍆 at six percent and fire 🔥 at 13 percent. However, Alberta is apparently leading the way in the use of eggplant emoji.

Plus, one or two emojis per message is the “sweet spot,” according to 64 percent of Canadians. However, seven percent think five or more is acceptable. Most of these people are from Atlantic Canada, which is apparently the “happiest emoji” around. However, those who live in Manitoba or Saskatchewan are the least likely to text with emojis – 20 percent agree that no emoji is the answer.

Finally, The Mobile Shop reports that on average only two in ten Canadians text using acronyms like “lol”, while Canadians under 34 most often use voice notes, exclamation points. and GIFs.

The mobile store confirmed MobileSirop that it collected the data through a “national” survey and a respondent pool of over 1,500 people representative of the Canadian population.

Update of 09/30/2021 at 11:14 am: Addition of information on the methodology of the survey.

The mobile store reportedly added a new $ 50 service fee for Koodo customers.

According to information obtained by MobileSirop, The Mobile Shop will charge the new fees to Koodo customers who activate their plans through Koodo online. However, Koodo customers who activate their phone with The Mobile Shop will not be charged.

Additionally, the information we have obtained indicates that The Mobile Shop needs to notify customers of the charges.

“Unlike many wireless retailers, The Mobile Shop does not charge our customers activation or setup fees. While our mobilists are happy to assist anyone, in some cases customers who are looking for activation or data transfer services for devices and packages purchased elsewhere may be subject to an installation fee, ”confirmed The Mobile Shop at MobileSirop in a report.

Unfortunately, the $ 50 service charge is standard in Canadian telecommunications. Several complementary carriers and brands, including Koodo, recently added a connection fee of $ 50. However, Koodo only charges these fees for in-store activations, not online activations. Since The Mobile Shop’s fees are tied to Koodo online activations, it has nothing to do with the brand’s connection fees.

Either way, it’s something to know if you’re heading to The Mobile Shop for a Koodo activation anytime soon. No one likes to be nuts about extra fees – if you can avoid this one, it’s still $ 50 in your pocket.

Update of 09/16/2021 at 9:17 am: Added a comment from The Mobile Shop regarding service charges.

The owner of a mobile phone shop in South Mumbai was the victim of a cyber fraud where the fraudster called him posing as an executive in a courier service and tricked him into revealing his bank details to transfer Rs 1.48 lakh from his account.

The 32-year-old complainant contacted MRA Marg police on September 6. He told police he runs a mobile store in the Fort area and often uses a courier to send cell phones to customers.

On September 4, he tried to send a mobile by courier and called a number, supposedly from the WeFast courier service, which he obtained from the Internet. It turned out to be the number of the scammer who then asked the store owner to make a token payment of Rs 2 for the courier and sent him a link to do so.

The complainant clicked on the link and entered his bank details as well as his UPI PIN code. He received a message from the bank warning him that Rs 2 had been deducted from his bank account. But once the payment was made, the complainant got no response. However, he then downloaded the WeFast messaging app and took advantage of its service.

Two hours later, the complainant realized that he had been duped by the person who sent him the link because he had received several text messages on his phone showing that a total of Rs 1.48 lakh had been deducted. of his account.

In 2019, Milwaukee’s popular Tots on the Street food truck was born out of owner Hannah Kopplin’s love for tater tots.

Now, Bay View’s Kopplin has started a second mobile business, stemming from another of his obsessions: plants.

In January, Kopplin’s father, Quinn, was diagnosed with cancer. Since Kopplin’s mother Tami’s job as a retail consultant involved a lot of travel, she left it so that she could be more at home.

As Kopplin’s food truck “grew and grew,” she spoke to her mother about joining her team.

“I would love to make it a family business, especially with what’s going on,” Kopplin said.

While researching what it would look like exactly, Tami came up with an idea based on something that she and her daughter both enjoy.
