Today is a new dawn for the mobile services industry, mainly Boost Mobile. Mobile services will no longer rely solely on subscription-based platforms, as they have done in the past, to generate revenue. Boost Mobile seeks to give back to its customer base outside of contracted service.

Boost Mobile mixes it with the BoostOne app

If there was ever a time to use a cross-platform strategy to beat inflation and give back, Boost Mobile has picked up the slack and run with it. Owned by Dish Network, as of 2020 Boost Mobile seeks to provide best-in-class mobile phone service to its 9 million customers.

Now they’re looking to fight inflation and help their customer base by offering consumers a way to earn free mobile service through their brand new BoostOne app. Backed by blockchain technology and “Boost coins”, users can download the app and play digital games like “Spin and Win”.

Boost takes a whole new approach to wireless phone service billing by allowing customers to use digital games to earn cryptocurrency in “Boost Coins”. They can then apply these coins to their bill and clear it completely.

Here’s the breakdown of how it works

Once you download the new BoostOne app, you will be given options to watch ads and play simple games that will save you pennies on your bill with each ad and game. If you are very active on mobile gaming scene and you like to spend a lot of time on your phone, this is a great way to save money that you can use elsewhere because you won’t need it for your phone bill.

This first-of-its-kind approach to wireless billing adds a manageable and fun new way for customers to lower their wireless bills and apply those savings to other areas as the economy struggles to rein in inflation.

“This represents an exciting new business model and a stepping stone into the future for wireless consumers,” said Stephen Stokols, executive vice president of wireless retail at DISH Network. “Most telcos rely on subscription models, but it’s time to move beyond the old ways and embrace proven digital models that are popular in other industries.”

Stokols is not wrong. In 2020, driven by the pandemic, mobile games reached $77.2 billion in sales and saw a 12% increase in player numbers. Mobile games advertisers also increased by 9% to 60,000, almost a quarter of mobile advertisers at 24%.

take a leash

With this new platform, mobile services will work in tandem with Web3 technology in blockchain Boost coins, allowing customers to purchase phones on the Boost network, purchase third-party merchandise, and enable customers to exchange Boostcoins with other customers. Offers like this can significantly reduce mobile phone service costs for teenage families, and young users can spend a considerable amount of time playing games and watching videos.

The ability to gift coins to other Boost customers is a new feature that other mobile apps don’t always offer. This concept will undoubtedly add a new and improved dynamic to the mobile phone service industry. Hopefully, this will be the one that other mobile providers will follow to adapt their service plans.

The future of mobile services

As costs continue to rise across the globe and inflation has a constant impact on everyday purchases, keeping your cell phone service can feel like adding extra weight around your neck. Families are starting to look to cut and reduce unnecessary expenses, and cell phone service can easily be on the chopping block if companies can’t reach out.

Boost Mobile is the first mobile service company to find fun, interactive and valuable ways to earn money off customer bills and can potentially wipe out the entire month’s charges. This merger of mobile services, games and cryptocurrency has ushered in new ideas, new perspectives and enormous potential for growth.

As companies look to innovate, meshing Web3 technology with crypto and other decentralized finance options, looking for ways to provide cross-platform variation, especially in mobile apps, will be the future. Any company that cannot seamlessly merge these technologies and industries will quickly be left behind by those who can embrace the future of internet-based concepts.

As the first mobile services company to lay the groundwork for making changes to cross-platform capabilities, Boost and DISH Network will be the innovators to watch as Web3 and blockchain technology take a greater hold and plunge experiences. users in what Web3 can accomplish. . And as businesses begin to embrace the new age of the internet, more and more advancements in cross-platform and cross-platform offerings will begin to emerge from the woods. It’s an exciting time for Boost and technology companies around the world.

Mobile sports talent measurement service in Izmir

The Sports Talent Measurement Unit, which Izmir Metropolitan Municipality leads the future of children aged 8-10, has now started serving in the districts as a mobile. First of all, coaches who walk around Kemalpaşa from neighborhood to neighborhood measure the sports skills of children for free and guide them to the right branch. Having discovered the small talents of Izmir, the unit will have covered the 30 districts by the end of the year.

The “Sports Talent Measurement and Guidance Program”, launched in line with Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer’s goal of transforming Izmir into a sports city, aimed to reach talents in 30 districts of Izmir. As part of the work carried out by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Metropolitan Municipality of Izmir, the talent measurement unit, which serves in the only center of the ice sports hall of the recreation area of Bornova Aşık Veysel, aims to spread sport throughout Izmir and to discover young talents and integrate sport into their lives. made mobile.

First stop Kemalpasa

In the app, which was first launched in Kemalpaşa, sports coaches from Izmir Metropolitan Municipality visited Kemalpaşa neighborhoods one by one with their equipment and completed their free talent measurements. After scanning the neighborhoods, the teams measured the children of the district center on the tennis courts of the sports hall of the municipality of Kemalpaşa. While the little ones had fun doing sports in the measures that interested the inhabitants of Kemalpaşa, the parents had the opportunity to discover the branches most suited to the skills of their children. The talent measurement unit aims to visit all 30 districts by the end of the year, especially the surrounding districts after Kemalpaşa.

“We are like nails and flesh with the Metropolitan”

Mayor of Kemalpaşa, Rıdvan Karakayalı, who said he supports studies for the discovery and training of athletes in his district, said: “Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has chosen Kemalpasa as a pilot region among 30 districts. First we worked in the cities and now we are in the center. We have a large number of students. In which branch our students are talented, we will meet our parents and start training them. Since I became a physical education teacher, I give more importance to these studies. We have raised some very good youngsters. Our support will always continue. For me, as long as there is no sport, art, education and culture, there will be no country, no state, no people. It is very important to save our children from bad habits and direct them to such good things. We welcome more students. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is always with us. We could not have done this capacity measurement. We are like a finger and a nail with the Metropolitan. Thank you very much to our president Tunç. We were also happy that the measurements started from Kemalpaşa. »

“The most important project to spread sports culture”

Hakan Orhunbilge, Head of Youth and Sports Department of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, who briefed on the bid, said: “First of all, we are carrying out many projects to spread sports culture in Izmir and popularize the sport from childhood, but that’s the most important thing. Our president, Tunç, follows this project closely. We have measured around 5,000 of our children so far. In Kemalpaşa, we have reached 500 children. We gave you the opportunity. The feedback is very good. When we did this in our only center in Bornova, it was not possible for us to reach everyone at this rate. By increasing the number of measures in a very short time, we aim to direct children to the branch in which they are good and to popularize the sport in this branch. Because children cannot succeed in branches where their abilities are limited and they break away from sports. We don’t want that either. We also meet our parents. We believe that the general love of sports among these children and the involvement of parents in this endeavor will increase the sports culture in Izmir.

“Very important for the discovery of talents between 8 and 10 years old”

Dilara Özdemir, sports trainer from the Youth and Sports Department of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, who spoke about the importance of the 8-10 age group in discovering the talents of children, said: “ After the quarters of Kemalpaşa, we finally measure our children in the center. We are implementing an extremely fun, enjoyable and beneficial activity for children. The aim of our project is to prepare our children from the unexplored regions of Izmir for their sporting life by discovering them at the age of 8, 9 and 10, what we call early childhood. Our goal is to guide our talented children towards courses adapted to their orientations. From the age of 8, our children have brought their psychomotor skills to a certain point. In this regard, the 8-10 age group is the right age group to direct them towards sport. Our expectation is that we want our parents and citizens to bring their children to these measures and participate in this free application.

“I want my child to be both moral and healthy”

Dilek Arıcan, one of Kemalpasa’s parents, who expressed his satisfaction that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is visiting district by district and guiding the future of young people, said: “We are very happy that such a thing is happening. is already produced. We also had in mind to discover the talent of our child, but we did not know how to act or what to do. It was very helpful to us. I thought my child had an aptitude for sports. I want it to progress. I also played volleyball for a long time, but only to a certain extent. But I want my child to progress. We want our child to arrive in a good position both morally and healthily,” he said.

Veli Yakup Çakır said, “It’s a good app. It aims to select children who are inclined to play sports. My son is there, we are also fighting for him. No matter how talented the child is, we will follow in their footsteps.

Talent data shared with families

As part of the program, trainers affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports put the young athletes through a series of tests. In the free 1.5-hour tests conducted in cooperation with Ege University, children’s fat is first measured and then balance and flexibility are checked. Data on children’s abilities, which are tested such as long jump, hand-eye coordination, arm strength, sit-ups, 5-meter agility, 20-meter speed, vertical jump, are calculated in percentages and presented to parents as a report. Thus, families have the opportunity to assess their children’s abilities and tendencies instead of the trial and error method.

Omdia said that South Korea leads in 5G coverage with 40% of the population, followed by Hong Kong and mainland China

5G will account for nearly 60% of global mobile services revenue in 2026, coming from 40% of subscription volume, according to Omdia.

Omdia expects more 5G subscriptions to be added in 2022 than in the past three years since the technology’s commercial launch in 2019.

“Although 5G is still in its infancy, accounting for only 5% of all mobile connections, 5G mobile service revenues are expected to experience rapid growth over the next few years, driven by the rapid adoption of 5G devices and increasing spending by 5G customers as they increase their use of data and digital services,” said Maria Rua Aguete, senior research director at Omdia.

“We predict that by 2026, 40% of all mobile subscriptions will be 5G, totaling 4.8 billion. In addition, annual 5G mobile service revenues are expected to reach $540.01 billion globally by 2026, accounting for 60% of global mobile phone revenues,” she added.

According to Omdia, the growth in 5G mobile service revenues will bring overall mobile service revenues to $911.61 billion worldwide in 2026, up from $798.57 billion in 2019.

China had 357 million 5G subscribers at the end of 2021, followed by the United States, Japan and South Korea.

However, in terms of the percentage of the population with 5G connections, South Korea leads, with over 40% of the population having a 5G connection. South Korea is followed by Hong Kong with 39% and China with 30% population coverage.

“In terms of monetizing 5G and increasing ARPU, although direct evidence of 5G’s impact on ARPU is still fragmented, as 5G SIM card penetration remains low on many markets and COVID restrictions are lifted/reintroduced, telecom operators should provide a strategy that makes 5G attractive to its users and that it is extremely likely that 5G will have an overall positive effect,” said the analyst.

Omdia also believes that gaming, video streaming, augmented reality and virtual reality are among the top factors driving consumers to select 5G plans. Telcos have more often adjusted their pricing models by adding additional data tiers or data allowances, or speed tiers, rather than new 5G-based services. The analyst advised operators to seek to bundle “rich” 5G applications and services to drive demand.

Three UK confirms plans to switch off 3G mobile service by 2024 https://lyoness-mobile.com/three-uk-confirms-plans-to-switch-off-3g-mobile-service-by-2024/ Wed, 11 May 2022 07:25:00 +0000 https://lyoness-mobile.com/three-uk-confirms-plans-to-switch-off-3g-mobile-service-by-2024/ Mobile operator Three UK today became the latest provider – after Vodafone and EE – to announce that it aims to switch off its legacy 3G (mobile broadband) network completely by the end of 2024. Mobile operator Three UK today became the latest provider – after Vodafone and EE – to announce that it aims to switch off its legacy 3G (mobile broadband) network completely by the end of 2024. The move will free up resources to enable Three to focus on improving the 4G experience and rolling out 5G to more parts of the UK.

The expected move is particularly poignant for Three UK, which is a network that launched in 2003 positioning itself as the first UK-only 3G operator. But today, 3G has long since been replaced by vastly superior 4G services and not to mention the latest generation of gigabit-enabled 5G infrastructure, which is rapidly advancing as it is rolled out.

REMARK: Three, which claims to carry 28% of mobile data traffic in the UK – the average data usage per customer per month on their network is now 19GB (up 20% year-on-year) – predicts that the 5G will account for 35% of data usage by the end of 2022.

The announcement follows last year’s agreement between the government and mobile operators (here), which saw Vodafone, EE (BT), O2 (VMO2) and Three UK agree a national plan to phase out all existing 2G and 3G services by 2033. The associated spectrum will be reused to enhance modern 4G and 5G services.

However, mobile operators have long expected to retire 3G before 2G, largely because 2G is still quite widely used (e.g. smart meters and other low power IoT devices) and remains a useful fallback solution for mainly voice communications in certain difficult cases (eg rural areas).

With this in mind, rival operator EE is already planning to retire 3G – which accounts for just 2% of its data traffic – by phasing it out of its network in time for the end of 2023; it will then close completely in 2024 (here), while Vodafone appears to be following a similar path (here). Both also plan to shut down 2G services in 2025. Only O2 (VMO2) has yet to announce their plan, but we expect their 2G withdrawal to take longer as they are used by many meters smart.

David Hennessy, Chief Technology Officer at Three UK, said:

“3G launched the mobile revolution – and launched Three in the UK 20 years ago – but the future is undoubtedly 5G. As we continue to roll out our super-fast connectivity, not only upgrading our existing 4G sites but by building new 5G sites we will be able to stop our use of 3G on our network by the end of 2024.

As the leader in 5G deployment and the fastest network according to Ookla®, we are focused on achieving our goal of delivering better connectivity, every day, for every customer.

Naturally, disabling 3G will cause data connectivity issues for the minority of customers who still rely on a 3G-only device. On this point, Three UK notes that all 4G voice call devices supplied by Three since mid-2018 are Voice over LTE (VoLTE / 4G).

As the 3G turn-off date approaches, if a customer has an older 3G-only device or a non-VoLTE voice device, Three says it “will work with its customers to ensure they stay connected,” but they did not specify that. Nevertheless, each technology has its day and the hour of departure of 3G has come.

As above, the main benefit of this will be that any 3G compatible spectrum can then be assigned to 4G and 5G services, which tends to improve data speeds and increase coverage. Every cloud…

Email security and cyber-resilience company Mimecast continues its expansion into the APAC region by establishing an office in Singapore as a regional hub to focus on Southeast Asia.

Mimecast says that in his new role, Hsu will report directly to Nick Lennon, VP APAC, Mimecast, and be responsible for building teams to help drive product revenue, increase adoption of cloud-based solutions of Mimecast and improve customer success.

Hsu has spent more than 25 years in the cybersecurity industry, holding sales and leadership roles at organizations including EMC Software Group, McAfee, Darktrace, and Illumio.

“Mimecast is in a strong position to serve businesses in APAC with its global email security and resilience solutions. The company’s experience supporting tens of thousands of organizations worldwide, including more than 20,000 customers who need resiliency solutions for Microsoft 365 and other messaging solutions, makes it a provider of choice for businesses in the region,” notes Mimecast.

Mimecast’s annual survey of global IT and cybersecurity professionals for the “State of Email Security Report” found that 84% of businesses in Singapore are receiving an increased number of threats by email – the biggest increase from the 12 countries included in the 2022 findings.

“As employees continue to communicate in innovative ways as they adapt to the future of work, security risks are growing in messaging and collaboration tools. The State of Security Report of emails revealed that respondents in Singapore were the most concerned about employees making serious security mistakes using personal emails (88%) and collaboration tools (81%). strongly positioned to support regional efforts to strengthen organizational defenses, build resilience and create a safe digital environment for success,” said Stanley Hsu,

“I am thrilled to be part of the Mimecast team and look forward to accelerating growth and expanding our business in a disruptive market.”

Over the next few years, Mimecast says it will continue its APAC regional expansion, and demand for cybersecurity solutions is expected to come from industry sectors that are experiencing rapid digital adoption.

Mimecast says it aims to rapidly grow its channel partner ecosystem in SEA, through regional distribution, and that the company will work closely to align with regional value-added resellers, system integrators and managed service providers to improve the end user’s cyber resilience posture. organisms.

“In the past, companies only focused on protecting their critical assets and data. However, the hybrid working model – introduced and maintained since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic – has contributed to an increase in the number of connected devices and teleworkers. This has led to a larger attack surface and a greater need to educate organizations and end users on the importance of increased vigilance. As security managers strive to mitigate risk and replace legacy solutions with robust cloud-centric security architectures, Mimecast is a valuable partner in helping them solve the number one threat vector: email.

“Mimecast aims to rapidly grow its distribution partner ecosystem across SEA, through regional distribution. The company will work closely to align with regional value-added resellers, system integrators and managed service providers to help improve the cyber resilience posture of end-user organizations,” concluded Mimecast.

Verizon Wireless customers are complaining about the sudden blackout they are experiencing on their mobile devices. According to the people, they couldn’t make or receive calls from their end since Wednesday, April 20.

However, some users have found a way to fix this problem by restarting their devices as recommended by the Verizon support team.

Downed Verizon Wireless customers can restart their devices if they are still suffering from the problem.

According to a report by CNET, customers based in the United States noticed that there was a problem with the mobile service. Many complaints flooded the platform on Tuesday, April 19 on this subject.

The next day at 4:50 p.m. ET, Down Detector notes that more than 23,000 concerns have been raised about Verizon’s wireless downtime.

It should be noted that many reports came from multiple cities, including Los Angles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sacramento, Denver, Seattle, and New York. Other concerns came from Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta and Minneapolis.

In response to this issue, Verizon Support tweeted that the issue had impacted voice calls for some mobile service users. That being said, the team is starting to troubleshoot the problem on the network and investigate the potential cause of the outage.

“Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and resolve the issue,” Verizon said.

Additionally, US Cellular, another mobile network operator that relies on Verizon’s network, was also affected by the downtime.

Verizon outage hits emergency services

In another story written by 8NewsNow, the outage was not limited to mobile service downtime. The technology publication notes that it has also affected emergency services across the country.

For example, 911 services are fully functional, according to a tweet from the Clovis Police Department. However, they were unable to call back to hang up from their mobile devices due to the ongoing outage.

Additionally, Verizon support says the outage has been attributed to the “fiber issue.”

With this in mind, the network operator has urged its customers to restart their devices if they are still experiencing issues from them.

Even before Verizon’s announcement, some users quickly found a solution to the problem by applying the same method.

Meanwhile, a case of potential data theft had taken place on Verizon last month. According to Tech Times, the company has warned all users to be careful with every text they receive on their cell phones.

Self-spam texts may be part of a large-scale phishing campaign launched by an unknown group of cybercriminals.
